More information about browser support Hedley Wood Holiday Park is located in Holsworthy on the border between Devon and Cornwall. It is an ideal base for exploring the towns of Bude, Kilkhampton, Morwenstow and the South West Coast Path. The location is family-friendly, with many amenities nearby, as well as dog-friendly facilities. Dogs are welcome in selected caravans at Hedley Wood and must be kept throughout the site (except for one of the dog crates.) We met all kinds of dogs during our stay and they were all incredibly friendly.
Close Dogs: In return for this blog post we received a free 3 night stay at Hedley Wood Holiday Park.
Dog Friendly Cottages In Devon With Last Minute Availability
We were invited to stay in one of the luxury caravans at Hedley Wood Holiday Park. They accept up to 6 people and accept 2 dogs. I have never stayed in a static caravan before and was pleasantly surprised at how spacious it was. If you have your own caravan or caravan, Hedley Wood also offers a range of en-suite holiday pitches. You can even pitch a tent if you want!
The luxury caravans have an open plan living/dining area, kitchenette with fridge, kettle, toaster and hob and 2 to 3 bedrooms at the rear. The master bedroom is en-suite, as is the family bathroom. I’m really impressed with the power of the shower, it’s a mile stronger than the one at home!
There are also several doors in the trailer, which may seem odd, but are useful for keeping Woody and the Mud-pawed Hen from wandering off. Even though the weather wasn’t the best, there was enough space for the dogs to play inside without being under my feet. Each motorhome includes a flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD players and central heating throughout. It’s the perfect excuse to cuddle up together and enjoy a movie or two in the evening.
We visited Headley Wood in October which meant the weather was capricious to say the least! We enjoyed a walk along Widemouth Bay during the downpour and strong wind. It is just over 4.5 miles and a short drive from Hedley Wood. The left side of the beach is dog-friendly all year round. I really enjoyed this Cornish Coast Path walk with my dog last summer, the views were stunning and the walking fairly easy which is always a plus. There are some steep slopes between Crackington Haven and Boscastle but they are passable with a dog.
North Devon Coast Cottages
Bude is just over 8 miles away, with lots of dog friendly restaurants, attractions and of course the very popular Canal Walk. We also went to Crackington Haven during our stay. There is an annual dog ban on the beach, which will be lifted at the end of September. Woody and Hen love to explore the rocky shore together and the huge waves look amazing. I even spotted a surfer or two in the waves, they must have been freezing!
If you are looking for dog friendly restaurants nearby, we highly recommend the Coombe Barton Inn in Crackington Haven, The Tree Inn in Stratton or the Bay View Inn in Widemouth Bay. Hedley Wood Holiday Park also has its own restaurant and bar. Woodman’s Bar serves a range of pub classics and Sunday roasts in high season. There are also kennels for dogs to use during their stay if they prefer to dine without dogs.
I can say that Woody and Hen go everywhere with me, as always. They were on their best behavior during our stay and we had a wonderful holiday. Dogs stay free at Hedley Wood Holiday Park and although there is a limit of two dogs per static caravan, there are no restrictions on camping, touring and caravanning. Woody and Hen received a welcome pack at reception on arrival which included two of their favorite bedtime treats!
