Pet-friendly resorts have many attractions because of the amenities that come with them. In some cases, there are packages that give you even more.

Dog Safety Tips

When it comes to taking your dog with you to the spa, they often offer something special for your pet. This can be a big plus if you don’t want to find pet-friendly places to eat, etc. And want to take in everything this site has to offer.

This is a great way to introduce you and your dog to pet-friendly travel because you’ll be staying at a dog-friendly resort that will show you where or where to take your dog.

A big advantage of pet-friendly resorts is that they are less expensive. You’re sure it’s worth the expense, but in some cases, a dog-friendly pet package can be expensive in hot spots like Mackinac Island, where you’ll pay more for hotels.

Also, unless you’re staying at a campsite (where most dogs are welcome at no extra charge), you’ll pay the normal hotel pet fee, usually the daily rate.

For example, the resort fee for Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island is $100.00 per bus. If you stay there 4 nights, it will be $25 per day. At Quality Inn on the island, for their amenities and services, their pet fee is $25 per day. No offense, quality in, just to make my point. See what I mean?

Another way to make your stay at the resort more affordable is off-season or when they offer promotional packages.

If you don’t want to put a hole in your wallet, don’t visit Mackinac Island or Traverse City in June or July for the love of your dog.

I’ve mentioned this in a few posts, but it’s at the top of the list for a reason.

Pet Friendly Places To Stay U.p. Michigan

Mission Point Resort is one of the only pet-friendly resorts on the island. Not only do they allow dogs, they welcome them with open arms. They have a resident dog on site, Nick the Chick Collie, who you can follow on Instagram @nickatthepoint.

Currently their pet fee is $100 USD. They also offer a pet package called Pooch, which includes a two-night stay, pet allowance, breakfast, ferry tickets and welcome services for your dog.

The lodge is located near Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and offers a variety of accommodations.

What’s really cool about Homestead is that their pet fee is included in the rate when you book. Pet friendly rooms are a bit difficult to book, so I would call ahead to make a reservation.

The Ultimate Guide To Pet Friendly Vacation Rentals In Michigan

Pet-friendly accommodations are located at Fiddler’s Pond Inn. They have a limited supply, so you may need to pre-order.

Enjoy the pool, hot tub, kayak and canoe rentals, golf course discounts, spa reservations, and more when you’re an in-house guest. See all services here.

Pets are allowed at Crystal Mountain Resort, although there are no special pet packages. They detail where your dog is not allowed at the resort, which is very helpful.

Crystal Mountain is known for winter skiing, two highly rated golf courses, a spa and other winter and summer activities.

Dog Friendly Hotels & Accomodations

Another popular ski resort, Boyne Mountain Resort is located south of Petoskey. Last fall we went without Kirby and enjoyed the heated pool and chair lift. We also played golf on the Alpine course, which was a wonderful course. They have another track, they say, more complicated than the monument.

Like the above resorts, they also have a spa and offer various activities and facilities in winter and summer.

In terms of animal friendliness, they are probably the most resilient. They have pet-friendly rooms that can only be booked over the phone. Their pet fee is $25 for the first night, $10 for subsequent nights, up to a maximum of $150.

It may not be the most popular on the list, but Portage Point Resort has been around since 1903. Resorts have a history of being built after the Michigan State Legislature abolished the lumber industry in 1897.

Best Dog Friendly Activities In The Grand Haven Area

The resort includes a variety of hotels and cottages along Lake Portage with access to Lake Michigan. It is undergoing renovation and refurbishment but is open for bookings.

Pets are welcome at selected locations and can only be booked online. A pet cleaning fee of $25 per night will apply to your reservation. Look at their policy.

I don’t know if Sweet Enough is the right story for Swoon Reads, but I appreciate each of these additions, comments, and reviews. Sweet Enough will be on Swoon Reads for next season (their next pick will likely be at the end of February), so if you’ve been meaning to read it, now is the time! I don’t know where this book is. Whether it will be self-published or left on request channels remains to be seen, but it’s definitely something I’d love to read for free, link in bio! . . . . . . . #contemporaryfiction # Located at the tip of Michigan, Fort Austin is one of the lesser known gems in the entire state, and it happens to be dog-friendly too! With over 2 miles of sandy beaches located in Fort Crescent State Park, you can spend the day in the clear blue waters, or hike over 11 miles of forest trails that open up to stunning water views.

Dogs are allowed along the banks of the Pinnebog River, accessible via a steel bridge that connects to nearby hiking trails at the campground. Pets must be kept away, and remember to clean up after your pet too!

One of our favorite canine friends, Puck’s Yard, is also in Port Austin! They have Michigan craft beer, great bar food and a great atmosphere. They often have live music so you can enjoy dinner and drinks on the water with your pack after a long day at the beach!

Dog Friendly Vacations

One of our favorite stops a few hours from the shores of Lake Huron is Tawas Point! This dog beach is the only fenced in Michigan where dogs can run free in a designated area. The camp is also dog friendly, so you can bring your dog for the weekend!

Boathouse Beer Co. and Buzzry is another great stop where you can dine on the patio with your pets. Located in the heart of Tawas, they have great food and drinks, and across the street from another little dog friendly park!

If you’re looking for a unique experience to enjoy with your dog in Michigan, Mackinac Island is IT. Hop on one of the dog-friendly ferry routes – Star Line or Shepler – a car-free trip to the island is a unique experience in itself! While there, you can explore more than 70 miles of trails and scenery, dine at one of the many dog-friendly restaurants, and even explore historic Fort Holmes with your wallet. Many shops in the city center allow this
