Rich in history and the childhood home of Abraham Lincoln, Lincoln State Park features 10 miles of hiking trails, rolling hills, and two lakes. Dogs are welcome to explore the park with you. You can visit Lincoln Boyhood National Monument, Pioneer Farm, Lincoln Cabin, Abraham Lincoln’s Mother Grave and Twelve Stones Historic Trail. You can camp in this park! It is very good for night spot.
If a covered bridge reminds you of a famous movie, you’ll see why this Iowa county is a unique tourist destination. Madison County is the bridge capital of Iowa. This county has the largest covered bridge in one area! With many bridges accessible by dirt roads, park your RV at a campsite while you explore.
In the six years we’ve been traveling with our pet RV, when I think of the places that amaze me the most, well, paws under the chalk pyramids in Kansas. Many tourists do not know about this place. But now the secret is revealed! Located in the western end of Gove County, Kansas, Monument Rocks is a series of chalk-colored monoliths known as the Chalk Pyramids. Dogs are allowed on a leash. And you will feel like you are in another world. It is truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Originally from Florida we love being at the beach! But after visiting Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore with Brickell and Digby, I now understand life on a lake! Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore has miles of sandy beaches and towers over Lake Michigan. As with many areas, some beaches do not allow dogs. So check with park rangers, look at maps or look online. We found Brickell and Digby to be more places on this beautiful lake than we expected. But keep in mind that dogs are not allowed on the dunes for safety reasons.
Your dog will feel as tall as Paul Bunyan when you take him to Bemidji, Minnesota! It was a fun stop for us on our trip. Visit the giant statues of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox for great photo opportunities. This roadside attraction has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1988. Built in 1937, the Paul Bunyan and Blue Oaks stand on the shores of Lake Bemidji near the Babe Visitor Information Center. After you’ve taken the best picture of your pooch, check out nearby dog-friendly Itasca State Park. Here you can see the headwaters of the Mississippi River, go hiking and have a picnic!
Indian Cave State Park is named after the large sandstone caves within the park. Adjacent to the mighty Missouri River your dog will thank you for bringing him here to camp, picnic and hike the 22 miles of trails! Indian Cave is the main geological feature of the park. And there are prehistoric Native American petroglyphs! Don’t forget to keep your dog on a leash and clean to preserve this beautiful place.
In general, we often stay away from big cities on our RV trips because of our dog’s age. But we found that Missouri’s Gateway Arch National Park strikes the right balance between urban and exotic. Two iconic structures in this 91-acre park will take your breath away. Your dog will enjoy walking on the green grass and garden area. Watch the horses and carriages pass by. And relax with a picnic Leashed dogs can explore the park and walk along the riverside trail.

We love roadside attractions and unique stops, and the dog-friendly Frontier Village ticks all our boxes! The original building was brought to this location from a North Dakota frontier village. Exhibits filled with unique antiques and artifacts are a great way to learn about North Dakota and its history. If you’re looking for the world’s largest buffalo monument, you’ve found it! Close to Frontier Village, visit this special spot to take photos. You can not resist!
The park is a beautiful haven for native plants and wildlife. And your dog can explore the 100 miles of trails in this national park with you. Why do I love Cuyahoga Valley National Park so much? There’s a winery in the park! That’s right, a dog-friendly winery! Sit under the trees at Sarah’s Vineyard with your dog after hiking and exploring. As with other parks please check national park pet restrictions before visiting.
Custer State Park is a South Dakota state park and wildlife preserve in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Custer State Park is known for its bison herds. Scenic driving routes Historic sites, resorts and campgrounds It is one of the ten best wildlife destinations in the world for the wide variety of wildlife within the park boundaries. Just 15 miles from Custer, this park is vast and inspiring!
I still remember the way Digby looked at me as we stood on the lagoon of the Apostle Islands, the wind blowing hard, the sun shining. And all is well in our traveling world. Dogs can explore Wisconsin’s treasures with you. You will see windswept beaches and sandstone cliffs. Hike with your dog and experience the magic of Lake Superior.
