Hecham. The flood protection coast is good if you like the sea but want to keep your legs clean. Heacham has two beaches – park on the northern beach and walk north to Hunstanton on the beach or flood bank. If you go for a walk later in the day, you’ll get some great sunsets.

Old Hunstanton. This is dog friendly all year round with a beautiful beach. The area is stunning with rugged cliffs and the low tide is perfect for dog walking.

Brancaster. There are some restrictions on part of the beach in the summer. Miles and miles of crystal clear sand and shallow water are great for dogs and owners.

Holkham. You can park at the end of Lady Anne’s Drive, opposite the entrance to Holkham Hall. Then, through the pine forest, along the boardwalk, until you reach a large expanse of beautiful sand. Please note Holkham Beach’s dog zoning policy. Most are still available for well-behaved dogs to enjoy off-leash beaches, but in the summer they are there to protect nests and vulnerable wildlife. Before visiting, find out about the guidelines for walking dogs in the nature reserve, as well as the nature areas where dogs are not allowed.

Wells-Next-the-Sea. A soft white beach with a picturesque backdrop of beach houses and pine trees, this beach is amazing for dogs and owners alike. Enter through the parking lot on the other side, where there is a friendly dog-friendly cafe. The beach is at its best at low tide, when the sand is incredibly long. Please note the Wells Beach dog zoning policy. Most are still open to well-behaved dogs to enjoy off-leash beaches, but there are ‘off-leash’ areas in the summer to protect the nature reserve’s nests and vulnerable wildlife at this time of year. Dogs are not allowed within the first 200 meters of Wells Beach from the east entrance (see beach signage).

Thornham. There are no dog restrictions on Thornham Beach. From the parking lot next to the river, you can walk along the high slope that gives access to a quiet beach. Be careful not to disturb the birds that nest in the sand dunes. There is parking at the RSPB car park in nearby Titchwell and from there walk through the bird sanctuary (dogs on a lead). Walk about a kilometer and you will reach the beach.

Sea Palling and Waxham. The fine sand and calm waters of these beaches offer a perfect walk. There are dog restrictions at Sea Palling in the summer, but you can walk east from the beach. Waxham has no boundaries.
