Dog Vacations New England – Looking for a friendly hotel in New England? I hate leaving my dog Roscoe at home when I travel. After all, vacations are more fun when you can bring your best friend. But finding a family-friendly hotel in New England takes a lot of research. What is the hotel’s dog policy? Are there other fees? Are there weight restrictions or styles? But you may worry about having to sacrifice your personal comfort to travel with your dog. Is it just another way to “upgrade” roadside hotels and campsites? Or is there a place that not only allows dogs, but actually cares about dogs and their owners?

Located on the shores of Lake Champlain, Basin Harbor believes no vacation is complete without four-legged family members. Their pet policy allows well-behaved dogs of all sizes inside, for a daily pet fee of $20. To book online, you can select any room and add the pet fee at checkout.

The resort has everything you need for a perfect vacation without leaving 700 acres of land. Choose from a variety of fun activities for the whole family, from land to pool. The pool and guest pool are pet-free, but dogs have their own swimming area, Fanny Beach. We were even able to rent a boat to take Roscoe out on the lake! You can also dine in one of the five restaurants there. Dogs are not allowed in the dining area, but are welcome to dine with you in the outdoor seating area at Red Mill. Dog walking and workstations are also available if you want to have fun without Fido.

Field Guide Lodge in Stowe is a luxury hotel managed by Lark Hotels. Like most of their properties, their pet policy allows dogs under 70 pounds for an additional fee of $50 per dog per day. We stayed in one of their cozy three bedroom suites, with plenty of space and a private entrance door. You can book these apartments online, just be sure to add a note about your dog’s size, weight and name at checkout. Dogs cannot be left alone in guest rooms. Out of respect for other guests, dogs with eggs are allowed at the hotel entrance and outside common areas.

The hotel stands out for its stylish and elegant decor. The lounge, decorated with a retro wood stove and plush fur, invites you to sit down with a book or a board game. You can have breakfast at the in-room coffee bar or simply have a drink and a bite to eat at the après ski bar. You have to reserve an outdoor hot spot first, which is not good. But the advantage is that you can get it yourself. And where it can’t be beat. We could walk into town, the mountain plane stopped right in front of the hotel. It’s the perfect home for you and your dog’s Vermont adventure.

The Inn at Mountain View Farm is a unique place to stay in the heart of northeastern Vermont. Per their pet policy, dogs are allowed in select rooms for an additional $50 per night: Peacham, Danville, NY. Danville, Maidstone and Vacancy. You can select the “Pet Friendly” option to reserve your room online. The shelter is so pet-friendly that a friendly golden retriever works the front desk and even has an animal sanctuary on site. If your dog is reactive to other animals, keep this in mind!

We stayed in the Deluxe Peacham Room which was nice and comfortable. Roscoe especially liked to sleep in front of the burning fireplace. In the morning we were greeted with pastries and hot coffee from the guest house’s fireplace. Just when we thought we couldn’t eat any more, the waitress brought out a batch of her famous blueberry-filled pancakes. We can’t resist.

Located on 400 acres in the southeastern states, this historic farm is one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed. Waking up early to see the sunrise, spreading pastel pinks and purples. On top of the mountain and in the early morning there is a cloud in the valley.

The Kimpton Taconic in Manchester has one of the best hotel policies I’ve ever had. Everyone is welcome, breath to breath, as long as they get in the elevator! No restrictions on size, weight, type or number of pets, no deposit or other fees. Just filter as pet friendly when booking online and fill out the pet form when you check in.

The Kimpton Taconic is definitely the best place to keep your dog. The room has food bowls, toys, treats and Orvis dog beds. (The Orvis flagship store across the street is a must-visit for your dog). Dogs are welcome in the lobby of the hotel’s restaurant, Copper Gross, and in the front dining room. During the winter, they have outdoor heaters to keep you and your dog warm. You may also contact the front desk to inquire about pet services, including but not limited to pet sitting, dog walking and spa services.

Made in Vermont in downtown Burlington is a secluded home for you and your pets. The pet store’s fun and breakfast welcomes well-behaved furry friends for a fee of $25 per pet per day. You can book directly online, just make sure you add your dog to the number of guests and provide details in the notes.

We stayed in room 904, one of the larger rooms recommended for large dogs. Although she and Roscoe are very cute in the bathroom down the hall (although at least it’s private). The character of the hostel may not be for everyone, but it’s in a great location within walking distance of the city centre. The owner is very friendly and will provide recommendations for friendly restaurants and things to do in Burlington.

Located between Killington and Rutland in Central Vermont, Mountain Top Resort is not only dog friendly, but they put dogs first. Canine friends are welcome in the resort’s four luxury suites, and their pet policy is explained in the inn’s selection of Vermont-made dog biscuits, beds and bowls. You can book for an additional fee of $50 per dog per night. Maximum of two dogs per group. Dogs must be registered at the time of your booking.

But grab a drink from the Fritz Bar and head into the comfort zone with your dog. Choose from playing a game of soccer in the big tent in the lodge, reading a good book in front of the big fireplace, or stargazing around the fire pit.
