We stayed at the dog-friendly Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac. This hotel is located in the center of St. Petersburg. Lawrence River and looks like a castle in the sky. A five-star luxury hotel, the most photographed hotel in the world! The hotel accepts two pets of any size for a fee of $50 CDA per night.

The interior of the hotel is fully decorated for the holidays, the halls are decorated with beautiful decorations and Christmas trees. It didn’t take long to check out and to our surprise, Gatsby was patiently waiting to join us even after the long drive. The hotel staff took good care of Gatsby. He doesn’t eat bones, so we asked the hotel to cook salmon and meat. The staff even asked Gatsby if his sauce was cooked to the correct temperature!

The best thing about Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is that they offer dog sitting! Dani and I arranged for daycare to come while we went to dinner and dog sledding. They paid $26 (CAD) an hour to have a nurse come to our room to see Gatsby. You can ask to stay in the nursery room only, or you can ask the nursery to walk your dog and play in the snow park near the hotel.

We walked with Gatesby along the Dufferin Terrace that surrounds the Fairmont-Le Chateau Frontenac. This elevated spot offers panoramic views of Old Quebec and Saint-Québec. View of the Lawrence River. There is a giant slide where people line up at the top of the slide (270 feet high) and go down at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour! Gatsby stayed around and enjoyed watching people descend on the square!

The German Christmas market is open from November 22. We managed to catch the last day of the holiday market until December 23rd. Wandering through the market, we found unique, beautiful handmade items made in Quebec and Nuremberg gingerbread, German Christmas cakes and bratwurst, pastries, wine and other German delicacies.

The next destination was the QuartierPetit Champlain district. This place is Instagram worthy! The narrow streets here are decorated with festive lights. I loved going to the shops and some of them even let me join Gatsby.

Just a few steps from the Place Royale Petit Champlain district, we visit Notre Dame de Victor, the oldest Roman Catholic church in North America.

Unfortunately we were unable to eat in any of the restaurants as there is no outside seating. In the warmer months, restaurants here are set up outside, and many eat with their dogs. The only place that offers outdoor seating is the Winter Pub des Borgias. Although it was cold, Gatsby was not allowed in the pub, so we sat outside. I enjoyed a glass of wine and Danny enjoyed his French onion soup.

Danny made reservations for a romantic dinner at the hotel’s Bistro Le Sam & Bar Atrium. This restaurant offers a wonderful view of St. Petersburg. Lawrence River. For appetizers, we ordered the Maple Syrup Duck Wings and the Atlantic Salmon Tartare. I had Cornish hen in May and Danny had battered lamb. Of course we shared a dark chocolate lava cake with lots of wine.

We agreed to come to the pet sitter to see Gatsby and Dan and I would go dog sledding on the Mee Loop Expedition! From the hotel, we had to go to Saint-Jean-de-l’Orléans, a 20-minute drive away. If you do not drive, the hotel can arrange transportation. I have wanted to try dog sledding for a long time! When we arrived you could feel the energy of these dogs as they were full of excitement and enthusiasm!

The session started with safety instructions and driving techniques, then we were off to the woods! I got on the sled and Danny followed behind with the sled. This adventure lasted a while
