But in our travels, we found that most (but not all) museums with outdoor exhibits welcome pets. These pet-friendly museums can be found in several locations:

All museums require your pet to be leashed and groomed. We would expect nothing less. In general, pets can enjoy the grounds and view the outdoor exhibits. Most museums do not allow pets. They also ask that pets are not left unattended. So plan your trip with a human friend and explore the buildings and take care of the pets.

The rules at St Michael’s Maritime Museum are simple – if there is no carpet on the floor, your pet is allowed inside the building.
It should also be noted that many living history museums and agricultural museums have animals. A museum with rampant chickens may not be the best place to take a dog with a strong prey drive – even if the rules allow pets. Remember to be careful and never put your dog in situations beyond his control.
