Seaton Beach, Near Looe

This secluded bay has two bays and is 7 minutes from Looe and Polperro. Located on the Heritage Coast, Tarrant Bay is largely unspoilt and dog-friendly all year round. The bay consists of two pebbly beaches of mostly coarse sand, both protected by low grassy cliffs and cliffs. At low tide there is plenty of sand to run around in, a good casting area and rock pools to walk around and explore. Short inclines provide easy access to both beaches, and there is paid parking and a car park on the main beach next to the cafe. There is also a smaller, less used East Beach car park that can be used.

The quiet south-east beach of Hannafor is located on the outskirts of Lua. It’s easily accessible and quieter than Lua’s main beach, which is popular with the dog-walking community. The beach is mainly pebble and stone, and low tide reveals many rock pools for swimming and beautiful views of St George’s Island from which you can take a boat trip. The main parking areas are located in Lue, where you can enjoy a pleasant walk along the beach, but there are also car parks on the beach road that provide easy access to the beach.

Not far west of Lua is Llantivet Bay, a 20 minute drive from our cabin. The bay is part of a close group of three bays: Lantic Bay, Lantivit Bay and Lansalos Bay. Three are maintained at the expense of the state. Steep cliffs, sandy beaches and shallow waters display ever-changing colors throughout the year – wildflowers adorn the cliff tops in spring, heather turns red and purple in the summer sun, then warms to deep golden hues in autumn. Lantivit Bay is a small bay perfect for walking and reflection, making it a beautiful hidden gem on the beach. The Llantivet Bay Circular Walk also offers a scenic 3-mile route that will give you lots of fun memories.

Best Dog Friendly Beaches Near Looe

A beautiful and secluded beach, its name is similar to Guinevere in the Arthurian legend. It is approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes from Beach Loo to Penzance and the far west coast of Cornwall. The area is full of natural beauty, with stunning views of the Isles of Scilly from the grassy cliffs. The walk from the upper car park is a bit steep, making the 150m of pristine sandy beach a peaceful place to run your pup. At low tide, it is also connected to Sennen beach in the south. The crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean sweep into the bay, providing excellent opportunities for experienced surfers, and dogs are welcome year-round, with lifeguards on duty from May to September.

Things To Do In Looe

The longest excursion worth mentioning is Mullion Bay, about 2 hours from Lou and 8 miles from Lizard Point. Victoria Harbor’s small sandy beach is owned by the National Trust and is subject to low tide. When the sand is hidden beneath the waves, you can get a full view of the harbor from the tops of the vegetation-covered cliffs that overlook several small islands along the coast, formed by volcanic activity. The harbor was built in the 1890s to protect ships from collisions on the Atlantic, so it’s a lovely historic area to stroll and enjoy together on the beach, along the cliffs or in the bay itself.

This is just an aperitif of the many beaches along the Cornish coast. Most of the county’s beaches are dog-friendly seasonally, if not year-round.
